DepicT Group Project

After being placed into our new groups we had to decide on who's idea we would use for the project.

The first idea that was put across was Jamie's idea for "Patient Zero" which would be about a person who due to their surroundings became ill and started a zombie apocalypse, however we decided as a group this may not be the best idea to go with as, we wouldn't be able to achieve the feel/scale of an apocalypse with only 3 people.

The next idea to be put across was Jac's idea of "Dream World" which would be about a person dreamed they were walking along a road and every time they turned a corner they came across a different character/scene from a video game. However we decided not to do this, as it would've been very difficult been difficult to show who the characters were or what the scene was as we wouldn't have had any costumes/props resembling the ones we would need to recreate the video game  scenes.

The last idea to be put across was my idea of "The Race". This idea would involve two people racing with the twist that they are on computer chairs. The "Racers" would be sitting on computer chairs with steering wheels pretending to steer their 'vehicle', whilst two others pushed the "Racers'" chairs along around the corridors of the college.
In the end we decided to go with this idea as out of the 3 ideas we had, this would be the best/easiest one to do.
After discussing how we could improve the concept i had put across, we ended up with the two "Racers" are racing around the college to retrieve/win a rubber duck. We decided we would film two starts to our short film to see which would fit better with the final project. One start would have one of the "racer" offend the other in some way  which they decided to settle with a race (not sure how duck fits in here). The other will start with a black screen and then the audio tracks of two different engines revving, then it will cut to close ups of the "racers" eyes, like they're having a stare off, before the camera zooms out showing that they are on computer chairs.

During the main part of the short film the racers will be going round multiple corners, overtaking each other etc...
Because there wont be much of a story behind the race and we are going for more of a comedic effect than seriousness with the race, we are planning to put lots of gags into the film for example we are planning to have one of the racers spin out into a pile of boxes.
